David de Kam is a PhD candidate at the Health Care Governance Group, Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management in Rotterdam. He holds degrees in Literature and Healthcare Management. De Kam’s PhD research project studies how the governance of quality and safety of care comes about through the interactions between (external) regulation and supervision, how healthcare organizations address quality and safety—as well as the regulatory demands they face—and how healthcare professionals ‘do’ quality and safety.
