B3: You Can’t Change What You Don’t Know
14:15-15:30
By the time Doctors finish their training there is an expectation that they will provide not only optimal patient and family care but to have an understanding of the concept of governance and leadership. Furthermore, the situation becomes critical when there is no understanding of a formal organisation structure.
In this session we will explore the notion that historically, role modelling has been the basis for providing the skills, knowledge and attitudes around governance and leadership. However it is apparent that these skills must also be formally taught and fostered during and after their training.
