Bauke Koekkoek
Bauke trained as RN (1997), community psychiatric nurse (2000), and advanced nurse specialist (2005). He obtained his PhD in social sciences in 2011, following a number of studies into so-called ‘difficult patients’ in mental health services. He earned a Master degree in epidemiology in 2010 and became Associate Professor at the HAN University in 2011. Since, he has been working on system-wide improvement of services for people with severe mental disorders, hoping to achieve better outcomes for services users and society as a whole. His work with Dutch police accelerated after the 2017 publication of a book on mental disorders and health services from a public health service.
