The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare
For 25 years, the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare has been bringing together healthcare professionals who share a concern and passion for improving quality and safety in healthcare. We aim to provide healthcare professionals with the opportunity to share their improvement experiences and to learn best practice, to connect to peers and showcase their work, to get updated on the latest in quality and safety, and to empower action that will lead to improving outcomes for patients in communities worldwide.
The International Forum in New Delhi is a new premium event that will showcase internationally recognised keynotes and will bring the best of international learning, high quality training and education in quality improvement to the South Asia region. The conference programme will be developed in close partnership with regional strategic partners to ensure that it addresses local needs.
View the sessions from our virtual workshops
In July and August 2020 we held a series of free virtual workshops built around content originally scheduled for presentation at the International Forum in July.
These virtual sessions were open to everyone as a chance to sample the International Forum content. We also offered an opportunity to virtually explore projects submitted to us via the Call for Abstracts campaign in connection to our 2020 conference.
The workshop topics are:
- Improving safety post pandemic
- Leadership and culture for change during COVID-19
- Doing more with less – reducing waste and improving quality
The New Delhi programme
The published 2020 programme will be updated in due course for the rescheduled 2021 event to reflect current themes and issues.
In the meantime, take a look at the sessions from our virtual workshops that were offered in July and August as a chance to sample the International Forum content.

Highlighting work from New Delhi Conference Proceedings
The Conference Proceedings contains work submitted to us via our Call for Posters for the International Forum originally scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India in July 2020.
A big focus of the now postponed conference is to increase the awareness of the improvement work that is happening in the region. One of the key ways we do this is via the poster displays and abstract presentations available during the International Forum. We look forward to hosting these in 2021 and in the meantime we are pleased to bring to your attention a selection of projects submitted for presentation at the postponed July conference.
IHI and BMJ will bring their combined experience and expertise to New Delhi for an inspiring two-day conference for healthcare professionals in South Asia who are passionate about improving outcomes for their patients and communities.
Attendees from the pubic and private healthcare sectors are welcome to join us to learn about the latest best practices, the most innovative initiatives and the emerging topics in quality improvement and patient safety.

The 2021 conference programme will be developed in close partnership with regional strategic partners to ensure that it addresses local needs.
