With a clinical background as a nurse anaesthetist, his academic and professional work is deeply rooted in improving patient safety and quality of care in perioperative settings. Haugen represents the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists in the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care\u2019s Patient Safety and Quality Committee.<\/span><\/p><br><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His key research interests include patient safety, quality improvement, safety culture, and the use of surgical safety checklists in perioperative care.
