Tuesday 10 March 2026 | 11:00-12:00 We are spending increasing amounts on healthcare across the world but improvements in health in particular the reduction in the gap between life-span and health-span have been minimal at best. <\/span>Doing more of the same will not change this trajectory but may in fact widen the gap as seen in many developed countries. Addressing this gap will need firstly changes in mindset starting from how we define health to situating health in the real world where our population (not just our patients) live, work and play recognising the importance of context, coherence and community. <\/span>Secondly we need to change care models to an ecosystem that addresses the needs and aspirations of our population across their life course as well as the social and wider determinants of health. Thirdly, as health is a journey, we need to move from a programmatic approach and learn from social movements which tap into intrinsic motivations and at the same time <\/span>enable <\/span>our population <\/span>to <\/span>take ownership <\/span>of <\/span>their own health.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p> The speaker will share the transformative potential of moving beyond traditional boundaries and embracing a holistic approach to health and well-being with illustrations from on-going work in SingHealth, the largest healthcare cluster in Singapore, in particular its place based, person centred, value driven approach that translates these concepts into reality.<\/span><\/p>
