This session will bring you through the development and implementation of Lean Health Care concepts in a district hospital in Malaysia. Lean Health Care is yet to be explored and its potential imperial in future health care system. After this session, participants will be able to:<br>1. Understand Lean Health Care concepts<br>2. Practice aspects of Lean Health Care in hospital<br>3. Compare the conventional system with Lean Health Care system<br><br>Wai Mun Chung, Emergency Physician, Taiping Hospital, Perak; Malaysia<br><br><strong>Part B: Use of Big Data to Improve Management of Operating Rooms by e-Streamlining<\/strong><br><br>Operating rooms (OR) generate a significant portion of an organization\u2019s revenues but also are resource-intense and costly hospital units. A study at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian and Montefiore Surgery Department showed that surgery departments in the United States account for up to 60% of total hospital revenue (Garner, 2012). When the demand for OR is increasing, the conventional solution has been to extend working hours or to build new facilities. But, it seems be a better strategy by increasing the productivity of existing facilities. However, it is important to keep in mind that any changes about improving efficiency and eliminating waste must go in tandem with the assurance that patient safety and the prevention of errors remain a high priority.<br><br>After this session, participants will be able to:<br>1. Use the Lean process method to improve quality<br>2. Improve operating room performance<br>3.
