He established the world\u2019s most comprehensive and busiest microsurgical center at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and has been recognized as one of the \u201ctwenty most important innovators in plastic surgery over the past 400 years\u201d by the American Society of Plastic Surgery and \u201c10 most influential reconstructive surgeons in the 21st century\u201d by the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons. He was awarded an honorary fellowship by the American College of Surgeons and elected as Academician at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan.
