Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Chief Quality Officer at East London NHS Foundation Trust

Amar Shah leads the large organisation-wide quality improvement programme, aiming to embed continuous improvement within daily work at all levels of the organisation, to support the organisation to achieve its mission of providing the highest quality mental health and community care in England. Dr Shah is a Consultant forensic psychiatrist and works clinically part-time in addition to his quality leadership role. He has degrees in healthcare management, mental health law and medical education, and has previously worked as clinical advisor at the National Patient Safety Agency. He is an IHI improvement advisor and faculty. He has authored a number of peer-review articles and book chapters on the topic of safety and quality improvement, and is a regular presenter at regional, national and international conferences on quality improvement.
