Executive Director of Nursing, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board; Wales

Ruth has undertaken leadership roles which include Chair of Nurse Directors Forum, Welsh representative on DoH Modernising Nursing Careers, Kings Fund/ Burdett Trust Ward to Board and implementation of a key national work stream. Ruth sits on a number of national groups and has a special interest in professional leadership, increasing the contribution of the professions to improving care delivery, safety and service improvement.

An experienced Director of Nursing currently in her 3rd executive post, Ruth has over 30 years experience in the NHS. This experience spans primary, community, secondary and tertiary care settings. She has had significant success in the delivery of the quality and safety agenda along with strategic leadership of the nurses and midwives.
