It can be difficult to meet people at a large conference, so we are creating a range of opportunities to help you connect with others before and during your time in Lisbon.
Whether you want to meet peers working on similar challenges, find future collaborators, connect with poster authors, speak to sponsors and exhibitors, or simply have more meaningful conversations during the event, Lisbon 2027 will offer different ways to get involved.
Community Zone
The Community Zone will be the central meeting place for attendees throughout the Healthcare Improvement Forum.
Located within the conference hall, this shared space is designed to support informal networking, peer conversations and discovery throughout the event.
In the Community Zone, you will be able to:
• Visit sponsors and exhibitors
• Explore poster displays
• Hear poster stage presentations
• Connect with poster authors in poster networking lounges
• Join Braindate conversations
• Visit the Braindate Lounge
• Discover Start-Up Alley
• Attend short sessions in the Innovation Theatre
• Continue conversations during catering and refreshment breaks
The Community Zone replaces the need for a separate formal social event by creating more time and space for connection during the conference day.
Braindate
Networking is important, but it does not have to feel uncomfortable.
Braindate is a topic-driven peer learning platform that helps attendees host or join one-to-one and small group conversations based on shared interests, questions and challenges.
Use Braindate to:
• Ask for advice on a specific challenge
• Share learning from your own work
• Explore a topic with people facing similar issues
• Find potential collaborators
• Continue a conversation after a session
• Meet people you may not otherwise come across
You will be able to set up your own Braindate topic or join a scheduled conversation hosted by another attendee.
Braindate conversations will take place in the Braindate Lounge in the Community Zone.

Taste of Portugal’ Evening Social Event
Immerse yourself in the culture, flavor, and traditions of Lisbon. Join us for a unique social gathering during the conference, where you can unwind, network and celebrate with colleagues in a vibrant Portuguese setting.

Tickets: £15 incl VAT per person (includes catering, activities, entertainment and two drinks).
Event app
The event app will help you plan your time at the Healthcare Improvement Forum and connect with other attendees during the event.
Once available, the app will support networking features, including scanning attendee badge QR codes to exchange contact details quickly and easily.
More information about the event app, including how to download it and when it will launch, will be shared with registered attendees closer to the event.
Start-Up Alley and Innovation Theatre
The Community Zone will also include opportunities to discover new ideas and solutions in healthcare quality and safety.
Start-Up Alley will showcase mission-driven innovators in healthcare quality and safety.
Innovation Theatre will feature short, focused sessions where exhibitors and sponsors can share their latest ideas, innovations and know-how.
These spaces are designed to make it easier for attendees to discover new approaches, ask questions and connect with organisations working on relevant challenges.
Posters and peer learning
Posters are another important way to connect with attendees.
In Lisbon, posters will be displayed in the Community Zone and grouped by subtopic to help you find projects relevant to your interests.
There will also be poster stage presentations during lunches and breaks, with poster networking lounges nearby to support further discussion.
