C1: A regional approach to building and sustaining an improvement system: a decade of systematic development in Helse Vest

This session will share experiences from a decade of building an improvement system at regional level. We will share the critical role of convening, capacity-building and networks in a long-term approach to creating a common approach to improvement across multiple hospitals and health systems. Presenters will describe strategies for training and leadership engagement, highlight lessons learned, and showcase how improvement agents and coaches contribute to sustainable results in healthcare.

 

After this session participants will be able to:

  • Describe how to design and scale a regional program for systematic capacity improvement in healthcare.
  • Identify key success factors for engaging leaders and multidisciplinary staff in sustainable improvement efforts.
  • Apply lessons learned from a decade of capacity building to strengthen improvement and patient safety work in their own context.
