Michelle Hamline

Dr. Michelle Hamline is a pediatric hospitalist and Director of Quality and Safety at University of California Davis Children’s Hospital. She has led multiple system-level initiatives to improve outcomes for hospitalized children, including efforts in transitions of care, implementation of evidence-based clinical pathways, and housestaff education. Trained in Lean Six Sigma, Dr. Hamline brings expertise in process improvement, systems redesign, and fostering collaborative cultures of safety. Her work emphasizes the importance of shared leadership and inclusive decision-making in quality improvement. Drawing on her experiences applying inclusive decision-making frameworks in healthcare, she focuses on engaging diverse stakeholders to create sustainable change. At UC Davis, she partners across disciplines to advance patient safety, strengthen systems of care, and mentor the next generation of quality leaders.
