Rumbidzai Gumbie

Clinical Research Fellow, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; England
Rumbidzai Gumbie is a Clinical Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the London School of
Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, supported by the Wellcome Trust CREATE Programme in
Global Health. Her research focuses on integrating HIV and sexual and reproductive health
(SRH) and related services in Zimbabwe using Experience-Based Co-Design (EBCD) to
improve quality, reduce stigma, and strengthen person-centred care. A registered nurse, she
brings over 15 years of experience across clinical, research, and implementation settings in
the UK, Middle East, and East and Southern Africa. Her work blends participatory research
with systems thinking to address real-world service delivery challenges in low-resource
settings. She is the first nurse awarded a Wellcome Global Health Research in Africa
Fellowship and is committed to equity, community leadership, and redesigning healthcare
systems with the people most affected at the centre.
