Anna Birna Almarsdóttir

Professor Almarsdóttir received her Ph.D. in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is trained as a pharmacist in Iceland. She is currently Professor of Social and Clinical Pharmacy (part-time) in the Research group for Social and Clinical Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen (https://pharmacy.ku.dk/research/social-clinical-pharmacy/), Denmark. The group is designated a WHO Collaborating center for Research and Training in the Patient Perspective on Medicines Use (https://whocc-meduse.ku.dk/). The group is a world leader of research “on” and “with” patients regarding medicines use. Her research interests include pharmaceutical policy analysis, developing new clinical pharmacy services, and patient involvement in drug therapy decision-making. Currently, she manages the awareness campaign Sofðuvel in Iceland, using a Patient/Public Engagement approach where she engages representatives of older persons in the design, implementation and evaluation of the initiative.
