Drífa Sigfúsdóttir

Drífa Sigfúsdóttir is a 71 year old mother of three and grandmother of seven children.
Although now retired, she has in the last 4 years been the vice chairwoman of the National
Association of Senior Citizens in Iceland and on the board of the Nordic Association of Senior Citizens.
During her work life she has been the Director of Operations at the University of Iceland's School of
Engineering and Natural Sciences, part-time teacher in the field of engineering, the Managing
Director of the Suðurnes Health Institute, the Head of Corporate Affairs at Creditinfo, the President
of the Municipal Council and Deputy Mayor of Reykjanesbær, and a deputy member of Parliament of
Iceland. She has served on numerous boards and committees, such as Arion Bank, the Savings Bank
in Keflavík, the Consumer Association of Iceland, Icelandic delegation to the United Nations
Conference on Women, the Family Council of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Icelandic Fire and
Rescue Service, Waterworks of Suðurnes, Natural catastrophe insurance of Iceland, the Association
of Municipalities in Suðurnes, and a committee that drafted new laws on fire protection in Iceland.
