Trond-Eirik Strand

Dr Strand is a professor in epidemiology and medical doctor with completed specialist training in general practice, occupational health and community medicine. His primary work has for the last 5 years been at Directors staff in Oslo University Hospital (OUH) in Norway where he is working with patient safety and QI at a strategic level. He has recently become a fellow in Scottish Quality and Safety fellowship program.

He was instrumental in establishing the National medical quality registry in lung cancer 10 years ago and is currently working to facilitate and expand on the more than hundred internal quality registries within OUH. Also, Strand is currently a key-person for design and development of a national lung cancer screening program in Norway. He has published several highly cited research studies on outcome after lung cancer treatment and contributed to improve the TNM system for lung cancer.

Strand has a career in aviation medicine for many years and was the chief medical officer at the Civil Aviation Authority in Norway for 7 years. As general practitioner (GP) he has been working as family and emergency doctor in both urban and rural areas of Norway
