Virginia splits her time equally as a provider (CEO of The Jubilee Street Practice) and a commissioner (with NEL ICB). Conflict of interest, in her view, is a spectacular super power when well harnessed, and might well save the NHS.
Virginia’s proudest piece of work is the design and development of EQUIP (Enabling Quality Improvement in Practice), which focuses on the at-scale deployment of Quality Improvement methodologies across general practice in North East London, with the aim of making this the best part of the country to work and to receive care. CEO of a twice CQC outstanding rated practice, Virginia’s passion is joy in the workplace, which she believes is within everyone’s reach through more leadership, and less management. Virginia has led nationally on the campaign to address GMS funding cuts through the removal of the Minimum Practice Income Guarantee (MPIG), and on raising the profile of deprived boroughs through an evidence-based analysis of workload, disease burden and complexity.
In her spare time, Virginia is nurtured by all things food and took a photo of everything she ate for one year, building a blog called “Eating the Year”. This was almost of more interest to the media than the removal of MPIG.
