Dr. Luane Mello, MD, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Social Medicine at Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. She is board-certified in Clinical Allergy and Immunology by the Brazilian Association of Allergy and Immunology (ASBAI) and the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB). Her work focuses on chronic non-communicable diseases, with particular emphasis on immuno-allergic conditions, mainly in the Primary Health Care context. In 2019, she initiated her role as coordinator of a Community Medical Center of the University of São Paulo in a small rural community in the state of São Paulo, where she had her first close encounter with issues of quality and safety in healthcare, an experience that has been both challenging and formative.
