Kirsti lost her twin daughters to an overdose in January 2023. At that time, they had been severely ill with eating disorders for nearly three years. During this period, the girls became pawns in a system that failed to work together. They were placed in more than twelve different child welfare institutions.
Over time, their everyday lives became marked by overdoses, suicide attempts, and repeated abuse. When Mina and Mille died, Kirsti made a conscious decision to be open about everything that had happened. She is fighting to ensure that no other children or parents have to experience what she did.
Kirsti continues to fight for her daughters—for the battle she lost on January 8, 2023, the day she lost her only children.
