For the last 21 years Matt has been working at a national level within the NHS applying QI methodologies to healthcare. He has a 6 Sigma Blackbelt (from the Juran Institute), and extensive expertise in measurement for improvement. Matt regularly works with clinical staff, board members, directors and operational managers to drive improvement projects. A Director at NHS Elect, Matt designed the measurement for improvement aspects for the improvement networks and led this part of the stroke improvement work in cohorts 1&2. As an improvement analyst he is skilled helping teams and individuals apply measurement for Improvement techniques within a variety of clinical areas to identify areas of concern / interest. This process includes assisting teams gather the correct data and appreciate variation, and spot any signals from the ‘noise’ in the system. Linking this to return on investment principles is often a great tool to help with change management.
