Head of the Stroke Unit and Stroke Research Group, Stavanger University Hospital; Norway

Martin W. Kurz, MD, PhD, is Head of the Stroke Unit and Stroke Research Group at
Stavanger University Hospital, and Professor II at the University of Bergen. A
neurologist and researcher in cerebrovascular medicine, he leads the Safer Stroke
research group within Safer Healthcare, focusing on quality improvement, patient
safety, and simulation-based education in acute stroke management. He has been
instrumental in developing regional and national stroke quality initiatives and currently
serves on the European Stroke Organisation’s Simulation Committee. His recent
work includes projects on artificial intelligence for early stroke detection and on
reducing regional inequities in stroke care across Norway.
