Venue
‘NOVA Spektrum has joined the UN Sustainable Development Goals and made sustainability a key part of our overall business strategy. Our meeting places shall generate positive ripple effects for business, culture, and organizational life, while we work to achieve the sustainability goals we have set.
Our work in the area of sustainability is based on developing and implementing concrete activities and measures where we can make the greatest contribution to positive development through our business. We have identified five Sustainable Development Goals as the most important for us, based on our ambition to lead the way in creating more meeting places with even greater positive ripple effects in the years to come.
• 8 | Decent Work and Economic Growth: For NOVA Spektrum, UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 means creating greater societal ripple effects while operating responsibly with respect to the environment and social responsibility in our supplier and procurement processes.
• 9 | Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: For NOVA Spektrum, Sustainable Development Goal 9 means developing and managing our buildings and properties with reduced resource use. We continuously work on improvements in energy, waste, and water, and choose climate- and environmentally friendly solutions in the planning of Lillestrøm NXT and the Spektrumkvarteret.
• 11 | Sustainable Cities and Communities: For NOVA Spektrum, UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 means actively contributing to Lillestrøm’s development as a destination and place to live, in collaboration with the municipality, business sector, and cultural institutions.
• 12 | Responsible Consumption and Production: For NOVA Spektrum, UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 means reducing unnecessary consumption and increasing reuse—both in our own operations and among our users—through measurement, analysis, and targeted measures.
• 17 | Partnerships for the Goals: For NOVA Spektrum, UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 means promoting cooperation with suppliers, customers, the municipality, and other stakeholders to achieve our sustainability goals.
Our Concrete Sustainability Goals
In addition to the overarching sustainability goals, NOVA Spektrum has also defined several concrete sustainability objectives in our current business strategy.
NOVA Spektrum shall:
• Reduce the CO2 footprint per visitor by at least 20 percent.
• Double the number of jobs created as a result of our business.
• Double the economic value creation through our own activity and the positive ripple effects it generates in the community.’

Experience Days and Social Event
✅ We will prioritise public transport or walking where possible to all our experience days.
✅ We are bringing our evening social event onsite this year, meaning no additional offsite travel to an additional venue.
Catering
✅ We are working with the venue to provide meals that prioritise locally sourced ingredients, as well as more white meat, fish and vegetarian choices. We will not be serving red meat, and will also be reducing cheese and chocolate.
✅ There will be no single-use items used for catering and all meals will be via plate service.
✅ Menus quantities will be planned and monitored to reduce the volume of waste.
✅ We will be recommending that attendees and staff bring their own drinks containers to the event for water station refills.
Printing
Event Guide
✅ We have made the decision to remove all printed event guides. The event information, programme and floorplans will be made available on our event app.
Suppliers
✅ We will prioritise using local suppliers where possible and reducing the number of suppliers. We will also be prioritising suppliers with sustainability credentials and that use environmentally friendly materials.
Signage
✅ We will be prioritising digital signage at the venue. Where printed signage is needed, we will work with our suppliers to find the most sustainable materials.
Waste
✅ We will be collecting lanyards after the event to recycle for future years. We will also be reusing our lanyards from 2024. Any additional lanyards that are needed will be made from eco-friendly materials.
✅ We prioritise re-using items at our events, such as stationary, lanyards.
✅ We will be reducing or restricting handouts, pens and notepads at the event.
CSR/Charities
✅ We are aiming to work with a community group or charity for our opening performances. We will also be discussing CSR opportunities with the venue that we can support. More initiatives will be confirmed shortly.
Measurements
✅ We recognize the environmental impact of events and are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our events. We are now utilising TRACE by Isla to calculate and mitigate the carbon footprint of the event. With TRACE, we can monitor the event’s environmental impact and make thoughtful adjustments to reduce it.
