Get the answers to some frequently asked questions about the International Forum in Lisbon on 20-22 April 2027.

 

  • What will be the format of the International Forum Lisbon 2027?

    The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare Lisbon 2027 will be a three-day, in-person event taking place from 20-22 April 2027.

  • What and where is the conference venue?

    The conference will be held at CCL – Lisbon Congress Centre, Lisbon

  • When will I be able to buy tickets and how much do they cost?

    Super Early Bird registration will open in August 2026 and will remain available until early December 2026.

    Registration options include two-day and three-day tickets, an Improvement Foundations Programme ticket, and a range of special rates. All published prices are per attendee and include 23% VAT.

  • What is included in the registration fee?

    Your registration fee includes access to the conference programme and organised activities covered by your selected ticket, as well as lunch and refreshments, the exhibition, poster displays, eligible on-site social activities, post-event materials made available by speakers, and a certificate of attendance.

    A three-day ticket provides access to the programme and organised activities on 20, 21 and 22 April 2027. A two-day ticket provides access on 21 and 22 April 2027.

    Please check the description of your chosen ticket carefully, as some ticket types provide access only to specified programme areas or activities.

    The registration fee does not include flights or other transport, accommodation, visa costs, travel insurance, or any other personal expenses.

  • How can I register?

    Registration will be completed through our online registration system. Super Early Bird registration opens in August 2026.

    When registration opens, a booking link will be available on our Registration and Fees page. You can also sign up to receive an email notification when registration opens.

  • How can I register as a group?

    Individual and group bookings can be made through our online registration system once registration opens.

    Invoices can only be issued for groups of five or more attendees.

  • How do I pay?

    Payment can be made by credit or debit card through our online registration system.

    Invoices are available only for group bookings of five or more attendees.

  • Are there any discounted or special rates?

    Yes. The following special rates will be available:

    • Lower-Middle-Income Country and Low-Income Country rates, based on the World Bank country classification list
    • Faculty and teacher rates
    • Improvement Foundations Programme rates for people with fewer than three years’ active experience working on quality improvement or patient safety projects
    • Student Improvement Foundations Programme rates for students in full-time education
    • A returning-attendee rate for delegates who attended Oslo 2026

    The Improvement Foundations Programme ticket provides access to the Improvement Foundations Programme stage, livestreamed keynote sessions and organised activities. It does not provide access to the other programmes taking place on 21 and 22 April 2027.

    We do not currently offer any other discounts, sponsorships or financial-support opportunities. Registration discounts do not cover travel, accommodation or other associated expenses.

  • Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

    Yes. All registered delegates will automatically receive a general certificate of attendance by email within two weeks of the conference.

  • Is the International Forum accredited?

    Accreditation for the International Forum Lisbon 2027 is currently being confirmed. Further information, including the number and type of credits available, will be published on this page when available.

  • Can I submit a proposal to speak in Lisbon?
  • When will I hear back about my Speaker proposal?

    Call for Speakers closed on 10 June.

    You will be notified of the outcome of your submission by email in October 2026.

    Please note that the email address that you supply on the Submitter Details page when submitting your proposal will be the email address used to correspond the results of your submission. If you change email addresses during this time, please let us know by emailing events@bmj.com so we can update our system

  • Will there be poster displays?

    Yes. Accepted posters will be displayed physically in the Community Zone at the conference venue and organised by submission topic.

    There will also be dedicated Poster Stages hosting selected five-minute oral poster presentations during breaks and lunch on Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Can I submit a poster?

    Yes, Call for Posters is now open and closes on 7 October.

  • Will you be running the Top Improver Awards again?
  • What is your cancellation policy?

    Our full cancellation and substitution policy will be available in the delegate Terms and Conditions.

  • How can I book my accommodation?

    See our Accommodation page for information about how and where to book accommodation for yourself or your team.

    Please be aware that unsolicited emails from third-party accommodation providers are not associated with the International  Forum or BMJ Group.

  • When will the programme be launched?

    The Lisbon 2027 programme is scheduled to launch in early November 2026.

    Further information will be published on the website and shared with subscribers when it becomes available.

  • Are patient bursaries available?

    We are not currently offering patient bursaries or other financial-support opportunities for Lisbon 2027. Any future opportunities will be published on our website.

  • Can you accommodate accessibility requirements?

    We want the Healthcare Improvement Forum to be as accessible and inclusive as possible.

    During registration, please tell us about any accessibility requirements or reasonable adjustments you may need. Our team will review your request and contact you if further information is required.

  • Do you provide invitation letters for visa applications?

    We can provide a visa-support or invitation letter to registered attendees who have completed payment of their registration fee.

    The letter confirms your registration for the conference but does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Attendees are responsible for checking the relevant entry requirements, completing their visa application and covering all associated costs.

    Please allow sufficient time for your application and contact events@bmj.com with your full name, registration reference and any other information requested by the event team.

  • When will photos from the event be available?

    A gallery of event photographs is expected to be available approximately two weeks after the conference. Registered attendees will be emailed a link when the gallery is ready.

     

     

     

  • When will slides and handouts from sessions be available?

    Slides and handouts provided by speakers who have agreed to share their materials are expected to be available on our website approximately two to three weeks after the event.

    Registered attendees will be emailed a link when the materials are available.

    Please note that not every speaker will make their presentation or supporting materials available.
