Venue
At Lisbon Venues, both CCL – Lisbon Congress Center and FIL – Lisbon Exhibition & Convention Center, are committed to quality and sustainability for a long time, as those values are the future: we all need to care for our planet and our future generations.
Since 2003, an Integrated Management System was implemented to ensure quality, customer expectations, guaranteeing sustainable development and to promote a healthy organizational culture in our sphere.
In a commitment to quality and sustainability, Lisbon Venues obtained from APCER (Portuguese Association of Certification), a Certification for the Quality Management System – ISO 9001 and is currently updating it and implementing the Environmental Management System, as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Management System.
The Environmental Management System aims to incorporate environmental issues in the work processes, to promote environmental protection, to reduce pollution and minimize the impact of the activity on the environment.
Lisbon Venues recycles paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, electrical wiring / metal, batteries, lamps and ink cartridges. The obsolete equipment is delivered for convenient disposal. All spare material from events is recycled or reused.
Regarding the use of electricity and water, Lisbon Venues implemented a rationalization program, which involved the replacement of the old hydro-sanitary equipment for new equipment, more efficient, and the purchase of equipment for the flow control.
All the halogen lamps have been replaced with new LED lamps. Along with these programs, they promote green events/green meetings in the facilities, proposing a joint effort for sustainability, resource management and minimization of the negative impacts that may arise from the events.

Travel and Accommodation
✅ Events team and staff members will prioritise travelling to Lisbon using the most sustainable airlines and use public transport between the airport and venue/hotel.
✅ The selected staff hotel is within walking distance to the venue. Accommodation options for attendees are provided through HotelMap showing the distance to the venue.
✅ We will promote public transport options for attendees to book directly, covering local bus and metro tickets and provide more details about using public transport to get around Lisbon.
✅We will collect travel data from all attendees, staff and speakers for the event as part of our registration journey.
Experience Days and Social Events
✅ We will prioritise public transport or walking where possible to all our experience days and social events.
Catering
✅ We will be working with the venue to provide meals that prioritise locally sourced ingredients, as well as more white meat, fish and vegetarian choices. We will not be serving red meat, and will also be reducing cheese and chocolate.
✅ There will be no single-use items used for catering and all meals will be via plate service.
✅ Menus quantities will be planned and monitored to reduce the volume of waste.
✅ We will be recommending that attendees and staff bring their own reusable water bottles/mugs/cups to the event for refreshment station refills.
Printing
Event Guide
✅ We have made the decision to remove all printed event guides. The event information, programme and floorplans will be made available on our event app.
Suppliers
✅ We will prioritise using local suppliers where possible and reducing the number of suppliers. We will also be prioritising suppliers with sustainability credentials and that use environmentally friendly materials.
Signage
✅ We will be prioritising digital signage at the venue. Where printed signage is needed, we will work with our suppliers to find the most sustainable materials.
Waste
✅ We will be collecting lanyards after the event to recycle for future years. Any additional lanyards that are needed will be made from eco-friendly materials.
✅ We prioritise re-using items at our events, such as stationary, lanyards.
✅ We will be reducing or restricting handouts, pens and notepads at the event.
CSR/Charities
✅ We are aiming to work with a community group or charity for our opening performances. We will also be discussing CSR opportunities with the venue that we can support. More initiatives will be confirmed shortly.
Measurements
✅ We recognize the environmental impact of events and are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our events. We are now utilising TRACE by Isla to calculate and mitigate the carbon footprint of the event. With TRACE, we can monitor the event’s environmental impact and make thoughtful adjustments to reduce it.
