In recent years, significant technological advancements have emerged as powerful mechanisms to improve health outcomes and promote healthcare equity. These include telemedicine, telehealth, wearable devices, remote monitoring, generative artificial intelligence, mobile health solutions, electronic health records, health information systems, public health surveillance, and collaborative platforms. Innovations in healthcare delivery models and community engagement strategies also provide new pathways for enhancing health equity. By harnessing these technological and non-technological innovations, we can address the root causes of health inequities and create more inclusive, equitable, and effective health systems.

In July 2024, leaders from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) global networks participated in the dynamic two-day IHI Innovators & Influencers Summit, hosted by IHI in partnership with Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil. This session will present stories from the summit’s discussions and learnings, share global case study insights, and demonstrate how these innovations are being utilized to promote and sustain global health equity impact.

  • Highlight Technological Innovations: To showcase the latest technological advancements, such as telemedicine, wearable devices, and generative artificial intelligence, and their role in improving health outcomes and promoting healthcare equity.

  • Share Global Case Studies: To present real-world case studies from various global contexts, illustrating successful implementations of both technological and non-technological innovations in healthcare delivery and community engagement.

  • Promote Sustainable Health Equity: To demonstrate how these innovations can be leveraged to address the root causes of health inequities, creating more inclusive, equitable, and effective health systems, and ensuring the sustainability of global health equity efforts.
