SQUIRE 2.0 (Standards for QUality Improvement Reporting Excellence) is the international publication guidelines for the reporting of quality improvement (QI) projects, research, and scholarship. It has been almost a decade since its publication and to ensure the guidelines continue to support the ever evolving and growing field of quality improvement, we are engaging in an evidence informed initiative to update the guidelines.
In this session, we will present the findings from the three-phase initiative that includes 1) qualitative interviews QI experts and educators, SQUIRE users, and journal editors, 2) a scoping review to assess the quality of QI reporting related to the SQUIRE elements, and 3) a modified-delphi consensus meeting to develop and prioritize recommendations. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the findings and the recommendations and provide critical feedback and suggestions for incorporating the recommendations into the final update to the SQUIRE guidelines.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the current application of the SQUIRE 2.0 guidelines in quality improvement publications
- Identify key recommendations for enhancing SQUIRE 2.0
- Explore ways that the identified recommendations can be incorporated into the updated SQUIRE guidelines
