W4: Safer health care for gender diverse and intersex people
Wednesday 19 November 2025 | 11:00-13:00
Format: Workshop
Participants in this workshop will hear from consumer advocacy leaders about the barriers to health care for gender diverse and intersex people, and what it takes to provide safer health care for these communities. Community health service providers will share their knowledge and best practice tips for the provision of care and share the experiences and challenges of care delivery. Presentations will be followed by a panel session where audience members can ‘ask the experts’ their questions.
Participants will:
•Gain a greater understanding of barriers to health care and the safety risks that gender diverse and intersex populations have in health care
•Hear practical advice and strategies from consumers and community service providers about how to improve service delivery for gender diverse and intersex communities.
•Reflect on their own individual practice and their organisation's approach
•See examples of leadership in care delivery and recommended organisations and resources to support the provision of safe care to gender diverse and intersex people.
This workshop is a collaboration between the Health Care Consumers’ Association, A Gender Agenda and Meridian.
