The programme theme in Canberra: ‘Think differently, start small, have impact‘

We recognise the complex, interdependent nature of healthcare and advocate for a holistic, whole-system approach to drive meaningful improvements. By nurturing innovation and collaboration, we aim to create health equity and ensure that high-quality care is accessible to everyone. With a commitment to cultural safety, we seek to integrate Indigenous knowledge systems into healthcare practices to improve health outcomes and promote inclusivity across all communities.

In Canberra, we will explore healthcare breakthroughs and examine the vital connections between climate change and population health, understanding how environmental factors impact well-being.

Additionally, we are dedicated to nurturing leaders who are prepared to drive meaningful, lasting change and build a more inclusive, empathetic, and patient-centred healthcare system—by thinking differently and acting together.

Key topics in Canberra

The themes we will explore will emphasise the collective responsibility in driving meaningful change in healthcare. By working together on a small thing at a time, we can create a ripple effect that leads to systemic transformation.

Our key topics include:

  • Innovate: innovative healthcare practices
  • Integrate: Integration of the whole system for equity
  • Advance: Advancements in health
  • Shape: Connection between climate and the health of the population

Patient representation and those with lived experience commitment

As part of our commitment to those with lived experience, we aim to:

  • Ensure each session includes a patient representative, encouraging their active participation as co-chairs (where possible)
  • Provide joint training sessions for patient representatives and session chairs to prepare them for effective collaboration
  • Introduce consumer-curated sessions or incorporate consumer-curated topics into each stream, introducing fresh perspectives into conventional discussions
  • Embed consumer insights across the entire program to enrich and diversify its impact
