This session will take examples from Community-led initiatives that can demonstrate how to effectively deliver health improvements based in schools and communities that improve the lives and wellbeing of children and families. Communities, schools and children will be the teachers in how to do it well.


As a result of this session, participants will be able to:



  • Challenge current mental model on improving health outcomes…attendees to test whether they are being ambitious enough or thinking about health outcomes in the optimum way.

  • Present examples of how health bodies could build better partnerships for health improvement.

  • Provide learning from partnership initiatives led by health partners (eg Education; Housing; Local Govt) or community groups on improving health outcomes.

  • Create community or learning network(s) based round the initiatives presented.
