Eugene Liu

Associate Professor Eugene Liu is the Chief Sustainability Officer of the National University Health System (NUHS), working on NUHS’ environmental sustainability goals. He is concurrently the Group Director of Strategic Facilities Planning, NUHS, leading the work to redevelop the National University Hospital. An anaesthetist by training, Eugene is a Senior Consultant in the NUH Department of Anaesthesia. Eugene is NUH’s immediate past CEO. He oversaw the development of NUH’s “peaks of excellence” in complex tertiary care that define NUH as an academic medical centre, and implementation of value-based care, risk management and emergency preparedness in NUH. He led the planning for the redevelopment of NUH and Kent Ridge Campus; and led NUH’s response at the outbreak of COVID. Eugene served previously as Head of the Department of Anaesthesia, NUH and NUS, overseeing a large growth in anaesthesia services and implementation of the residency training system. He also served as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and International Relations, NUS School of Medicine.
