Dr Makani Purva is President of Association of Simulated Practice in Healthcare, and the Interim Chief Medical Officer and Director of Simulation at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, UK.

Makhani is the Chair of the National Standards for Simulation based education committee and has led the creation of the ASPiH accreditation framework for simulation in the UK. She is an Honorary Reader at Hull York Medical School and the joint Editor of the METRIC journal. She is on the editorial board of the BMJ-Simulation and Technology enhanced learning, has published widely and speaks nationally and internationally.
