The SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN) is a self-driven community of patients and caregivers, who are committed to representing the voice of patients to enhance patient experience and quality of care. Members lend insightful perspectives and are involved in a rich array of projects, including participation in hospital committees, and staff and patient education initiatives. This workshop aims to share insights and skills needed to build a strong patient advocacy network to effectively engage with patients and caregivers. These include our innovative model of communication training for effective patient advocates, and our patient-led education initiatives for staff and patients.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Facilitate patient advocacy for engaging our patients and caregivers as key partners in their care
  • Initiate and set up a strong Patient Advocacy Network as an effective partner stakeholder in care
  • Understand how to sustain the network with rich networking activities and effective training of advocates
