Dr. Kamal Gulati, PhD is Consultant at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. His areas of research interest are medical leadership, capacity building, innovation, and healthcare governance. He has published in leading international journals including Leadership in Health Services, International Journal of Healthcare Management, International Journal of Health Planning and Management etc. on the topics related to medical leadership in India. His research in medical leadership, the first from Indian subcontinent, has revealed significant leadership competency gaps amongst doctors in public and private sector hospitals in the country.


He has been awarded the prestigious international visiting fellowship of Institute of Advanced Studies, UK to work in the field of medical leadership at Warwick Business School in 2019. He is the recipient of the NHS Leadership Academy Award in Healthcare Leadership – The Edward Jenner Programme. He was an invited speaker in the Leaders in Healthcare 2019 conference of BMJ-FMLM, where he presented a session focusing on Leadership Challenges in Non-western Healthcare Systems. He has co-authored a book chapter to the World Health Organization’s publication on Public Hospital Governance in Asia and the Pacific (2015).
