This workshop will guide participants through the key building blocks in designing and implementing a management system that applies a whole system approach to quality results. We will draw from learning at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health and East London NHS Foundation Trust, two healthcare providers in different contexts with holistic quality management systems.

The interactive session will support participants to understand how to integrate planning, improvement and accountability/control into a system of daily work, through a series of exercises designed to enable people to apply the learning back in their own organisations.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key components required in a whole system quality approach

  • Articulate the essential building blocks in integrating planning, improvement and accountability/control in daily work

  • Reflect on opportunities to identify strengths and opportunities for development within their own organisation
