In Partnership with Patients

The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare welcomes patients, carers and service users to the conference.

Below you will find some of the opportunities we are offering at this year’s International Forum in Copenhagen.

Patient Choice Awards

We will be running our Patient Choice Awards again this year. The Patient Choice Award is an award given out at the International Forum 2023 in Copenhagen to highlight the importance of including a genuine patient perspective in healthcare quality improvement work. A jury of patient delegates will assess sessions in the conference that have at least one patient co-presenter based on criteria relating to content, format and wow-factor. The presenters of the session with the highest rating will be announced at the closing ceremony of the conference.

To be included in the running for the patient’s choice award, you need to co-present your session with a patient, carer or service user. To enter, please do the following:

  • If you have already got a patient co-presenter, please check your session on the view programme page of our website, and ensure that it is tagged with the content filter: Co-presented with patients, service users or carers
  • If your session does not have the content filter added and you would like to include a patient co-presenter, please send their details to rwanbon@bmj.com and we will add the filter.

On the day, members of our patient jury will attend your session and score the content based on the criteria above. As an added benefit, a live illustrator will attend some of the presentations.

Unless otherwise confirmed with us, we will be expecting all speakers to present in person. We do have some limited capacity to include virtual presenters, but need to arrange this with you in advance and it may not be possible to accommodate all session types. If you have any concerns about presenting in person, please email rwanbon@bmj.com by 31 March to discuss options.
