Sustainability General Events Statement

BMJ Events and sustainability

At BMJ Group, we believe in the power of sharing knowledge to improve health outcomes and in the responsibility to do so sustainably.

BMJ Events is passionate about fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing in healthcare. We believe in the power of meaningful connections, built through memorable events and spaces, to improve healthcare and patient outcomes. However, sustainability is equally important to us. We recognize the environmental impact of events and are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our events portfolio by 50% by 2030.

We believe in collaborative action. By working responsibly with our event partners, suppliers, and attendees, we can implement and communicate sustainable practices. This includes everything from travel guidance to responsible materials policies and carbon footprint tracking. Together, we can raise awareness and enact change.

To this end, the team is now utilising TRACE by Isla to better understand and mitigate the carbon footprint of their events. This tool collects detailed data on key aspects of event management – whether in-person, online, or hybrid – including venue, catering, materials, waste, production, and travel. With TRACE, the team can monitor an event’s environmental impact and make thoughtful adjustments to reduce it.

Join us on our journey to create sustainable and impactful healthcare events.
