F7: The Parental Advisory Project: gathering explicit advice from parents in our children’s hospital through video interviews

In this workshop, we will present a novel teaching format that uses video interviews of parents whose children are admitted to our paediatric hospital. We have asked parents for direct feedback on the care their child has received with us. A video compilation of the interviews is shown in teaching sessions with medical staff and students to allow for a moment of reflexivity at the start of a work day or during the medical curriculum. Through the direct and honest feedback gathered we hope to motivate staff and students to become better, more empathic doctors in daily practice.

In this session, participants will be able to:

1. Join us in such a ‘Parental Advisory’ session, where we will show you a short video compilation.
2. Reflect on the material and be inspired by the feedback parents have trusted us with.
3. Exchange ideas on this method of teaching and the effect it has on students and healthcare professionals.
