Prof Tan is a physician with 26 years of experience in Patient Safety and Quality. He held top leadership positions in quality management at hospital, academic health cluster and national levels. He led in successful JCI-AMC hospital accreditation and in establishing SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute for Patient Safety & Quality, its curriculum & portfolio recognition. He helped launched patient safety workshops in collaboration with Duke-USA. He is Chair Singapore National Quality Council which serves as national advisory panel on healthcare quality strategies. He is a certified trainer in Open Disclosure & in Teamstepps; and a Council member of Singapore Healthcare Improvement Network, in collaboration with IHI.
