Francis SekKwong Poon achieved a Bsc from the University of Hong Kong in 1980, then an MB BS from the China Medical University (Taiwan) in 1987. In 2010 he attended MPH Yang Ming University at their school of health management before working at Taichung Veterans General hospital, (TCVGH) Division of Gastroterology in 1993. He became a Research Fellow in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah (2005-2006), and also worked at Intermountain Health Care (Advanced Training Programs in Healthcare Delivery Improvement) in 2005. In 2006, he became the chief of TCVGH Clinical Informatics Research & Development Center. He also contributes to the Taiwan Patient safety Program, as a Committee member with the JC of Taiwan since 2009. From 2016 he has worked as a Clinical Professor with the National Defence Medical Center.
