PART ONE: When money leads: a recipe for harm in pursuit of the quadruple aim
Wise people may say, “no money, no mission,” but starting and leading with finance risks failing to deliver the outcomes patients and communities desperately need. This mindset can also alienate your most valuable asset: your workforce.
In resource-limited healthcare systems, it’s crucial to drive value and maximize outcomes, but focusing solely on cost is not the answer.
In this interactive session, we will offer provocation on some of the key issues facing organisations and systems as they try to transform and seek to leverage participants’ expertise to share global examples of successes and learning from failures. The workshop will culminate in a collection of emergent ideas and resources that leaders can use to place people at the heart of achieving the quadruple aim.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- To challenge the dominant narrative about productivity and the risk of an over-focus on money
- To reflect on the benefit of exploring these concepts with a diverse group of other participants
- Take back ideas, tools, and a renewed energy for placing people at the heart of the pursuit of the quadruple aim
