Kim Parker
Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust; England
Kim is a registered mental health nurse with over 42 years of experience. Currently the Sheffield Health and Social Care lead for the national Culture of Care Programme, she has spent most of her clinical practice in inpatient care – but has also practised in a secure forensic setting and worked in quality improvement.
Kim has won two positive practice in mental health awards: in 2014 for reducing stigma, and in 2018 as part of a team for safe patient care. She has a Master’s degree in managing diversity and is clinical lead for the Gulu Sheffield Mental Health Partnership which has run for 12 years and is focused on patient safety within a post-conflict area of Uganda.
Kim’s involvement in this Mental Health Act QI programme has elevated her service user-informed quality improvement work to true coproduction, and a realisation that working towards anti-racism in the NHS is possible.
