Gambinga Gambinga

Community Support, SACMHA Health and Social Care; England

Gambinga is a community support worker for SACHMA Health and Social Care, which was established in 1988 in response to the health and social care needs of people of African and Caribbean descent.

A large part of Gambinga’s role involves listening to, engaging with and supporting service users to manage and increase their independence, particularly those transitioning from secure unit settings into the community.

As a former service user himself and someone who lives with bipolar and depression, Gambinga’s lived experience gives him insight into the people he works with and influences him to treat people as human beings rather than a diagnosis or condition.

Gambinga is a qualified nurse and has worked in several mental health hospitals.
