Nicki recently submitted her PhD at the University of Auckland’s Medical School, exploring organisational kindness – what kindness is, why it matters, and what conditions support it at individual, team and organisational levels.

Nicki holds a range of different roles. She is an associate editor for the British Medical Journal Leader division, supporting research on human connection to publication. As a patient advocate, she sits on several national and international committees and foundations. As a researcher, she works with numerous global organisations, collaborating to establish links between kindness, social capital, and psychological safety and highlighting their shared impact in building high-performing teams and organisations. She is engaged as a speaker and facilitator by health and law organisations wishing to support their workforce engagement and improve culture. Nicki’s applied research predominantly focuses on helping teams build healthy group norms, supporting leadership development, and working with organisations to embed values such as kindness within their structures and processes.
