“EYES WIDE OPEN – I TURN WASTE INTO ART”
My career includes both an ophthalmic nurse and a performer.
I am a professional in assisting cataract & refractive surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, eyelid surgery.
In addition to my work in the operating room, I am active as an ambassador for the Dutch committee for sustainable ophthalmology, which strives to make all processes within the ophthalmological practice more sustainable. Together with the committee, I wrote the best practice sustainable cataract surgery.
I give lectures on sustainable cataract surgery, sustainability in healthcare and art.
In 2012, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in design at the Utrecht School of the Arts. I create awareness in healthcare by converting waste from operating rooms into art, like awards and trophies, wall-art and gifts made from medical waste to achieve a dialogue in sustainability. I make the subject pleasant and attractive and perform as a PlasticSoupDJ with the Plastic DJ Booth at congresses & meetings.
