Leading efforts to improve healthcare quality and safety is a creative act. As professionals working to improve quality and safety in your organizations and health care systems, you will inevitably confront unexpected challenges or opportunities, freak events, or novel situations that you will have to think and work through to truly advance your quality and safety goals. Essential to your arsenal for navigating tricky challenges is exposure to diverse lenses and exemplars that are grounded in research. Lenses are conceptual frameworks that bring into relief some features of a situation that allow you to formulate a course of action. Exemplars are empirical findings or cases that you can relate to your own situation and organization in ways that give you novel insights. This pecha kucha session aims brings together a select group of the world’s leading management and leadership researchers to present frameworks and empirical research that be a source of creative inspiration for your work to advance healthcare quality and safety. A pecha kucha involves a mix of short, engaging, (predominantly in this case) visual presentations. The pecha kucha session will be followed by two rounds of small-group discussion with the presenters and your professional peers. This will be an opportunity for you to explore the ideas presented in more depth, and to relate it to your work in quality and safety. The presenters and topics were deliberately selected to be both eclectic and provocative.
