Join us for this engaging and interactive session with BMJ Leader’s Deputy Editor-in-Chief,
Amit Nigam, and Commissioning Editor, Jamiu Busari, at the International Forum on Quality
and Safety in Healthcare. BMJ Leader is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing
leadership in health care and health Professions Education. Our mission is to contribute to the
improvement of health systems—and ultimately population health—by cultivating excellence
in leadership. We are equally committed to fostering an inclusive, global community of
healthcare leaders. To this end, the journal welcomes high-quality contributions from various
disciplines, perspectives, and geographic contexts.

During this session, we will provide an overview of the journal’s aims, scope, and article
types, including original research, brief reports, reviews, reflective essays, and commentaries.
Participants will also have the unique opportunity to engage directly with the editors through
a live discussion of selected paper pitches. This exchange is designed to offer valuable,
practical insight into the kinds of work that align with the journal’s mission and editorial
priorities.

If you are interested in having your pitch considered for discussion, we invite you to prepare
a concise, 30-second elevator pitch. This should clearly articulate your central research
question, the methods (if applicable), key findings, and the novel contribution of your work.
We look forward to your participation in what promises to be a stimulating and constructive
session.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Gain insight into the types of work published in BMJ Leader, focusing on understanding
the key factors that contribute to successful publication.

  • Demystify the process of pitching and publishing in BMJ Leader by fostering a discourse
that enables editors to learn from participants’ diverse perspectives. This discussion aims to
inform ongoing efforts to enhance the journal’s accessibility to contributors addressing a
broad spectrum of leadership topics and experiences.

  • Engage in real-time editorial dialogue and explore the kinds of ideas and submissions the
journal considers. Also, to better understand the editorial feedback process, including
