Catherine is a nurse and a midwife with more than 40 years’ experience working in the health system in Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia. She has worked across multiple models of care and health settings which has provided valuable insights into system redesign with a safety lens. She has a PhD in Midwifery, which examined the ability of organisations to adapt and reshape to accommodate change. Catherine has a keen interest in safety systems that mitigate risk and can enable high quality safe services for consumers. More recently her focus has been on the safety of healthcare providers, and their ability to withstand the demands and challenges of their occupation. Re-orienting the focus on those who provide care should have a positive impact on those receiving the care.
