Catherine Hannaway

Dr Catherine Hannaway is Programme Director, Nightingale Challenge Global Leadership Programme Northern Ireland, and a Global Health Consultant.
Catherine trained as a nurse, midwife and health visitor. Working with Lord Nigel Crisp, Baroness Mary Watkins and a global board of renowned international experts, beginning mid 2017 Catherine set-up, launched and began the roll-out of the 3-year global campaign Nursing Now in collaboration with the WHO and the International Council of Nurses, aimed at strengthening nursing all around the world.
As part of the role of Acting Executive Global Campaign Director, Catherine travelled extensively around the world helping countries and organisations to set up and launch national and local Nursing Now initiatives – in particular focussing on increasing the leadership skills of young nurses and midwives.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in designing and delivering whole-systems public health leadership and improvement programmes, having worked as a Programme Director for the NHS Modernisation Agency, and the NHS Leadership Centre, and working globally as a special advisor to the World Health Organization designing and delivering ‘Health in All Policies’ training around the world.
Catherine is an honorary member of the UK Faculty of Public Health and a Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
