Dr. Goldmann has decades of experience in helping healthcare systems and teams improve quality, safety, and value, including work in global resource-limited settings. As IHI Chief Scientific Officer, Emeritus, he promotes improvement science by forging relationships with academic and research organizations. He advances the rigor of improvement projects through context-sensitive project design and program evaluation. His QI work is informed by experience across the entire translational research continuum (bench science, epidemiology, clinical trials, and implementation/health services research). Dr. Goldmann has expertise in using quality indicators for research, benchmarking, judgement, and improvement. He advocates for integration of improvement and HIT/technology to support effective learning health systems, clinical decision support, patient engagement and care, and population health and equity. He is Chair of the AHRQ National Advisory Council and Vice-Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Institute for Medicaid Innovation. He Co-directs the Harvard-Wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship Program he founded.
